Information For Nannies
You are welcome to contact us if you are interested in finding work through our agency. Detailed below is information you may require but please contact us if you need any further details. We would love to hear from you.
What do employers look for in a nanny?
Children are precious, we're sure you understand that. When we place nannies on our books, we look for the following attributes:
Responsibility and maturity.
A genuine love and desire to care for children.
A friendly, calm disposition.
A stable individual.
The ability to communicate with children.
Trained or sufficiently experienced in childcare.
Flexibility.
Daily duties of a nanny
Ensure the children’s total wellbeing.
Prepare their meals according to instructions, including any specific dietary requirements.
Do the children’s laundry and ensure their rooms are tidy.
Keep the children occupied through play.
Ensure the children have sufficient rest.
Carry out any specific instructions relating to the children’s health, i.e. administering medication.
You should not have to perform other duties outside of your role, unless this has been mutually agreed.
Working hours
Nannies and mother’s helps work a five day week – Monday to Friday and have two days off, usually the week-end. We cannot define specific hours of work for nannies employed in private residence and suggest that this be agreed between employers and the nanny at the interview stage.
Live-in nannies are expected to babysit two nights a week. Overtime should be paid if a nanny works over a week-end as well as for babysitting more than twice a week.
The 1998 Working Times Regulations are applicable:
Four weeks paid holiday a year at times that suit both parties.
Time off for Bank Holidays or payment in lieu thereof.
Accommodation
A private bedroom should be available for a live-in nanny.
Travel
Employers are expected to refund nannies for travel expenses incurred to attend interviews and when starting work.
Local interviews and the daily travel expenses of live out nannies are for their own expense.
